✺ FAQs ✺

  • This course is designed for those who are have already completed their Mat Pilates training as well as anatomy training/education. We will also give preference to those who already have experience teaching.

MUST have significant experience on the reformer. (Min. 50 hours)

We will be doing our own mat training in the fall but feel you will be better served to do the mat prior to the reformer training. If you want on the waitlist for the mat course, please email info@glebepilates.ca.

  • 100 per cent of the in person portion must be attended to pass. Private makeup classes can be organized at a cost of $120 an hour for .5 x the hours missed. For example if you miss a 6 hour day of training, you are required to attend three hours of private sessions with Ally at a cost of $120/an hour. No exceptions for illness or injury will be made.

  • The exam, case study report, all observation and practice logs, and the final class demo must be complete within a year of the course start date.

  • The special populations case study is designed to ensure you are able to create a plan and adapt your teaching to a client with a particular injury/condition or focus. It involves a research element, a written paper, and a five session plan that progresses and builds on each lesson.

  • Pilates is unregulated in Canada and therefore anyone can put on a training. This is why doing your due diligence is so important to ensure you are spending your money wisely to finish feeling confident and ready to teach. Is the instructor extensively trained in kinesiology and biomechanics? Do they allow for practice hours in their studio? How many in class hours are required?

Are you planning to move and teach internationally (not on a retreat)? If so, reach out to info@glebepilates.ca for more info.

  • We will open up studio times on May 31st and June 1st as well as a few other blocks of time after the course finishes to allow for practice teaching. These hours can be done elsewhere.

Personal practice hours can be done at any studio or at home if you have a reformer. Your investment comes with a monthly membership of 8x classes a month that can be booked in advance. You are welcome to join as many standby classes as possible. You are welcome to start your four months membership when is convenient for you starting after May 3rd.

Observation - where you will observe and reflect on other teacher’s classes, can be done at our studios or elsewhere.

  • To ensure accountability and getting the most out of your observation hours, you will be required to participate in reflection or “learning stories” where you’ll be given guidelines on how to comment and reflect on the classes you have observed or taught.
